Volunteer or Intern With Us

The Fortune Society’s volunteers and interns support our mission and make valuable contributions to our work!
Our volunteers and academic interns serve in in-person opportunities, the majority of which are located at our Long Island City Service Center during the hours of 9 AM -6 PM, Monday through Friday. We welcome applicants with justice involvement. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old.
In the application, you may choose up to three programs you would like to apply to and can add additional information about any other service interests you may have. It can take up to a month or more for us to review your application, and not all applicants will be contacted for an interview. All volunteers and interns must complete onboarding paperwork, online training and a volunteer orientation. Some programs require a background check and/or additional training.
We encourage you to keep checking our website for updates and new opportunities. Thank you for your interest in serving at The Fortune Society!
“Interning at Fortune is wonderful. I’m gaining real-life work experience in a nurturing environment and making a huge difference in people’s lives. I would never have it any other way.”
- Hannah Kavanagh Communications and Journalism Intern
