Volunteer or Intern With Us

The Fortune Society’s volunteers and interns support our mission and make valuable contributions to our work!

Fortune offers volunteers and academic interns a variety of in-person opportunities at our service centers throughout New York City. Please check the specific opportunity for details on location. We welcome applicants with justice involvement. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

In the application, you may choose up to three programs you would like to apply to and can add additional information about any other service interests you may have. Applications will be reviewed within a month of submission, but not all applicants will be contacted for an interview. All volunteers and interns must complete onboarding paperwork, online training and attend an orientation. Some programs require a background check and/or additional training.

The Fortune Society contracts with the City of New York and as such is required under Executive Order #74 to ensure that all in-person staff, volunteers and interns are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

We encourage you to keep checking our website for updates and new opportunities. Thank you for your interest in serving at The Fortune Society!

“Interning at Fortune is wonderful. I’m gaining real-life work experience in a nurturing environment and making a huge difference in people’s lives. I would never have it any other way.”
- Hannah Kavanagh Communications and Journalism Intern
