Behind the Bird: Time and Being Productive

We are excited to share ‘Behind the Bird’ additional content around the theme of our most recent edition of Fortune News, Time. These articles highlight additional guest writers and include extended versions of pieces in the publication.

“Time”

There is so much to say about time. I like to think of it as particles of sand falling from an hourglass. Once it’s all gone, we can never get it back. I have learned to try and use it up as wisely as possible, even when locked up in prison. Time has taken so many things and people away from me, yet instead of just sitting here and sulking in defeat, I have decided to use my time for the good of myself and others.

“Time is a thief; it surely takes away everything.

I know we can use our time for the better.

I spend my time studying, reading, and writing.

I have published one book while incarcerated and have been working tirelessly on a second. I have around ten poems in a few different publications. I have been using my time and talents as wisely as I can. I am trying to give back to the community.

Whatever skill, talent, or passion you have.

Pursue it!

“Time is wasted every day.”

Only you can give it purpose and meaning.

I have learned that time is so precious. Life is too short to give up and call it quits; regardless of your circumstances, regardless of your environment, you can strive and do more than survive, and there is always hope while you are alive. At an early age, I was taught never to give up. It’s never truly over until we are buried in the ground.

“Time only leaves us time to be great!”

If we learn to use our time wisely, anything can happen. You never know what the future will bring. We can only get better with time if we are willing to take the time to apply ourselves to better ourselves. We can become successful at anything we are passionate about and willing to pursue. I am constantly trying to become better and improve myself in all areas of life. Whether it is in science, history, psychology, literature, or any other thing that my beating heart may desire to pursue.

I want to use my time to bring hope, positivity, and light to the world.

“Everything changes with time”

So why not change for the better?

Every human is different than when they were young.

We all can grow, evolve, change, and use time for the better of ourselves and others.

“Time is precious!”

We will never get it back, so please. Regardless of circumstances, use it wisely. The world is constantly changing, and time waits for no one.
