(December 13, 2023 – New York, NY)—JoAnne Page, President/CEO of The Fortune Society, issued the following statement about an innovative new housing model to be constructed in an existing building on the NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi campus in The Bronx. The building will provide approximately 83 affordable apartments for both supportive and affordable tenants including an apartment for a live-in superintendent.
“As the designated developer, manager, and service provider for Just Home, The Fortune Society’s vision for the project is clear: providing safe, supportive and permanent housing for formerly incarcerated persons with complex medical needs who would otherwise experience homelessness and affordable housing for low-income community members—all on the NYC H+H/Jacobi hospital campus.
We are encouraged by the support of local residents and organizations who share our vision and are working alongside us to dispel any misinformation about the project. Like us, they believe that a fair city is one that ensures all communities are treated equally and that supportive housing and affordable housing should be equitably distributed across New York City.
Standing on our decades-long, award-winning record of providing permanent, supportive, and affordable housing, The Fortune Society is confident that Just Home will not only mirror our other initiatives in this city but stand as a beacon of success for years to come.”
