‘Clean Slate’ legislation on the docket

While discussions on bail reform are consuming much of Albany’s oxygen as lawmakers look to finalize a budget, legislative priorities not yet included in the spending plan have been put aside. 

Among them is so-called Clean Slate legislation, which would seal the records of people convicted of certain misdemeanors and felonies who have stayed clear of the justice system for a number of years but are nonetheless precluded from employment, education and public-benefit opportunities.
