City To Shut A Rikers Isle Jail This Summer
The de Blasio administration revealed on Tuesday that it plans to close one of the Rikers Island complex’s nine jails this summer.
“In shutting down GMDC, Mayor de Blasio has moved us one important step nearer — both symbolic and concrete — to closing Rikers Island,” Fortune Society CEO and President JoAnne Page said in her own statement.
