11th Annual Arts Festival
Celebrate community, liberation and healing through the Arts with Socrates Sculpture Park on June 22!

Enjoy family-friendly festivities, including hands-on art-making workshops, live music, spoken word performances, food for purchase and more. During the day, we will be joined by The People’s Bus, a bus formerly used to transport people detained on Rikers Island. In partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Public Artist in Residency program, it has been transformed with input from New Yorkers into a community center on wheels to engage people in NYC’s civic life through beauty and joy.
More events during the day include:
-
Live musical performances and spoken word from our Arts community
-
An art and photography exhibition
-
Screen-printing
-
Crown making
-
Owl pots and birdhouse painting
-
Emancipated Stories – read and respond to the work of writers who are currently incarcerated
-
Food for sale to the public – Makina, Ethiopian and Eritrean food truck, and Pinche Vegana, vegan Mexican food truck
Bring some sunblock, grab a blanket or chair, and hang out with us on the waterfront! Rain or shine, come celebrate with us.
The event is free, no RSVP required.
