    Position Summary:

    The Director of Volunteer Services is responsible for organizing and implementing a complete volunteer service program including recruitment, training, coordination and recognition. The position serves as the primary contact for volunteers and provides guidance to the volunteer committee. The Director will work to enable the incorporation of volunteer participation and engagement as a core strategic function throughout the agency. In addition to supporting various department’s goals and the accomplishment of specific tasks, the Director fosters ambassadorship by volunteers and nurtures a greater connection to the organization.

    Position Summary:

    I-CAN is a jail-based community reentry program expected to reduce recidivism of detainees who have been identified as being high risk for re-incarceration (repeat offenders). The goal is to support them into reintegration into the community, with their families and preparation for their continuum of sentence.

    This position is part of Fortune’s “Jails to Jobs” (J2J) program, an initiative to service persons in the community with touchpoints with Rikers Island Correctional Facility. She/he will be responsible for developing transitional work opportunities (subsidized employment) for program participants; Direct placement of job seekers; placement through referral/collaboration with other entities; case coordination with program case managers and program facilitators; Creating, reviewing and updating participants resumes; Providing job interview coaching, strategically placing participants based on skill set and overall ability; collaborating with staff to support tracking post-placement outcomes; and providing supervised weekly job search activity for all clients on caseload.
