Under the supervision of the Director of Research, the Research Assistant will provide research assistance and administrative support to a brain health feasibility study, conducted by Dr. Casey LaDuke and The City University of New York (CUNY) John Jay College of Criminal Justice in partnership with The Fortune Society (Fortune). This study will begin to improve the health, safety, and daily lives of people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) involved in the criminal justice system. Specifically, this study will assess the feasibility of administering evidence-based TBI assessment methods in this high-risk yet critically understudied population.

The Registered Nurse is a member of the staff within both Treatment Services (substance use) and The Better Living Center (mental health) clinics. The RN conducts medical assessments required by OASAS and/or NYS OMH as part of the clinical intake workflow; coordinates urine toxicology tests (collected by others) being sent to lab; administers some intra-muscular psychiatric injections; assists the psychiatric nurse practitioner with various tasks, including administration of medication assisted treatment, prior authorizations and checking vitals (weight, blood pressure, etc.); leads a preventative health education group; and conducts wellness checks as occasionally requested by general Fortune client population.

The Family Services Case Manager aims to increase awareness on the importance of fathers in the lives of their children; while strengthening family bonds. The counselor is responsible for engaging non-custodial fathers in our Fatherhood program, though case management and parenting groups.
