Rally to Close the Prison at Attica

We are rallying outside the Governor’s NYC office to show our support for closing the prison at Attica, decarceration, and an end to violence in New York State prisons. Challenging Incarceration: Struggling for Justice in New York State

Join us to finalize a multi-policy platform, address the current political landscape, and strategize on how we can take collective action to challenge incarceration and build empowered communities. This is a multi-policy meeting open to all and there will be a light potluck brunch at 11:30am.

No Separate Justice Vigil

Join the No Separate Justice’s monthly vigil outside of the Metropolitan Correctional Center, which is a federal prison where people accused of terrorism-related offenses have been held in solitary confinement for years, even before they have been tried. The mission of the No Separate Justice campaign is to place criminal justice abuses on the agendas of human and civil right organizations, the media, and the U.S. public through education and activism.

Candles for Clemency

Candles for Clemency urges the Governor to keep his promises of providing pardons to eligible justice involved youth and clemency that restores freedom to deserving formerly incarcerated people to live productive lives and contribute to society. Candles for Clemency is an organization of New Yorkers working for reform of our prisons and criminal justice system. Candles has organized a number of vigils in the past several years.

Together to End Solitary

Every day in New York prisons and jails, there are over 5,000 people put in solitary
confinement who spend 23 or more hours a day locked in a cell. Join CAIC to end the torture of solitary confinement on the 23rd of every month (in recognition of the 23+ hours a day people spend in solitary).

March and Rally to #CLOSErikers

We are marching from Queens Plaza to the Rikers Island Bridge to show Mayor de Blasio that the city is united in supporting the closing of Rikers Island. Afterwards, there will then be a rally and vigil at 19th avenue and Hazen street at 5 pm.

The New York City Marathon

Watch our team of runners, The Fortune Flyers, at this year’s TCS New York City Marathon as they further our mission to support formerly incarcerated people’s successful reentry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration.
