Hepatitis C Personal Stories Workshop

Led by Columbia Narrative Medicine Students, this event is open to individuals who have lived with Hepatitis C in New York City. By participating in a creative workshop that supports the development of storytelling techniques, participants will learn how to use these skills to promote advocacy efforts and erase harmful stigmas. These workshops run weekly and participants should commit to attending all sessions.

Coalition Cafe: Subsidized Wage Programs in NYC

Learn about New York City’s subsidized wage programs, which provide temporary work placement to individuals who face difficulties finding jobs, at this interactive event. This session, which focuses on providers of these services, will provide you with a multitude of tools, documents and strategies for creating or improving your wage subsidy program.

New York City Council Participatory Budgeting Vote Week

Participatory Budgeting is a process that allows residents of the 28 council districts taking part in this year’s PB cycle to decide how to spend a portion of the city’s budget. New Yorkers can use their democratic power to discuss and vote on how to act on important issues facing their communities.

War Crimes: Film Screening and Discussion

As part of its Veteran’s Initiative, the Fortune Society’s David Rothenberg Center for Public Policy is hosting a screening and discussion of the film “War Crimes” in order to understand the struggles criminal justice involved veterans face. The film follows correspondent Kaj Larsen as he travels to mental health facilities and prisons investigating the rise in incarcerated veterans.
