After earning a Masters in Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, Sherry worked for the N.Y.S. Division of Criminal Justice Services assisting in the research and development of standards and goals for statewide corrections. Following this position, Sherry was hired by N.Y.C. Board of Correction to implement those minimum standards of living for people in the city’s jails, and to analyze Department of Correction compliance. Sherry later took a hiatus from criminal justice to run a bicycle touring company where she organized and led biking trips around the world. She was born and raised in Queens, and has three daughters.
