Back in 1967, the Fortune News was little more than a one-page mimeographed flier – edited by our founder, David Rothenberg – that kept subscribers up-to-date on Fortune’s activities. Today, the newsletter is one of our primary outreach and fund-raising tools, having grown into an international publication with a circulation of over 16,000.

The Fortune Society officially re-launched the Fortune News in October 2009, and it now boasts both an updated design and several brand new features. Each issue includes “Justice Beat”, a brief of relevant research in the field intended to educate both our incarcerated and non-incarcerated readers; “Lentes Latinos” (“Latin Lens”), a Spanish-language column about criminal justice issues faced by the Hispanic community; “New & Noteworthy Prison Programs”, a feature that highlights programs around the nation that are doing good work; “Center Stage”, a selection of poetry, comics, drawings, and other creative works from incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals; and so much more.

Please click on the “Subscribe to Fortune News” button at left to learn more about receiving the News or having it sent to a friend or family member who is currently incarcerated.  The Fortune News is provided as a premium to Fortune’s generous donors, and is FREE to incarcerated subscribers!
