I am touched by James story aka Jimmy Judd. James has recently communicated with me and it was nice to hear from him. I have not seen or heard from him for over 20 years and to know he is alive and doing well it's a true blessing. I am so very proud of him and look forward to reaching out to him as often as I can. Jimmy you made it happen. GOD BLESS YOU..xox

Thank you for your blog and to everyone at Fortune. I am going through a Masters of Social Work program with hopes to work with those during and after incarceration. I am interested in learning the stories of others so that I will be able to understand those with whom I work.

A very close friend of mine has recently been arrested and in jail. He hasn't been sentenced yet so I don't know how long he will go to prison for. I was wondering what you might tell someone who is just starting that phase of life and what opportunities he will have in prison that will assist him when he is ready to get out.

Thanks very much,

Erika: I witnessed the work and the results from your creative art therapy and kids always leave with a smile and were eagerly looking forward to come to the next class. You had adults wanting to come into the class too but I will speak for my self. I'm proud of the work that you do and keep sharing.

Thanks,

I cried as I often do when I watch videos like this. Larry is an inspiration, and I say to him,"carry on good and faithful servant".

Like Larry I am a former prisoner who left with a desire to just be "normal" and live with others without hurting them, Well...Almost 9 years into it I now live a normal and peaceful life. But, I promised myself that one day I going to go back there with an army, a army of good and great man...saying let my people go"!

8 years ago..I was a bad man...but my badness was the result of 20 years of drinking and drugging. As I said in the belly of the beast, I promise my God that I would first learn to live among others, and he told me..live..and in time I will fulfill the desire of your heart. I left there will shame an guilt. While I should have been doing life...my comrades were, and for much less than what I had done. One of my desire...is to change these draconian laws we have and give the millions of men and women new hope...hope to truly rehabilitate themselves and go home...never to return. Well that dream is beginning to take shape...visit my blog and tell me what you think. prisonersnetwork.blogspot.com It at much now...but you wait...Good luck Larry and God please the production team that put this film together.

An awesome statement from our Governor Elect. This business of corrections with its octopus grip decimating social structures within communities of color like family, community and livelihood, the capitalistic interests of big business including cheap labor and of course the millions of jobs created all on the backs of our seeds. I agree with John, more of our youth are incarcerated annually than graduate from college, educational funding is suffering and tax payers are carrying the load.

What is most interesting is the lack of comments about an apparent truth that also applies to adult corrections. The admission that corrections has become an employment program is courageous. Too many people are incarcerated in the U.S.
Mass incarceration has become an employment and profit making business for many interests at the expense of educational funding. ethic minority communities and families.
