Russia’s Pussy Riot Visit Fortune

Monday, February 17, 2014

Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, founding members of the Russian activist group Pussy Riot, spent the last morning of their last day in New York at Fortune’s Castle Gardens in West Harlem, hearing about post-prison life from women living there. The chat with Fortune clients was all part of a whirlwind week, their first visit to the United States, that included dinner with Madonna in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Wednesday and a tour of Rikers Island on Saturday. In between, they met the mayor (Friday) and partied with the likes of Questlove and Jake Gyllenhaal at the Spotted Pig in the West Village (Thursday).
